Home Life

Maricare ensures that all food is prepared by professionally qualified chefs producing wholesome, home cooked, traditional fare, using quality local produce, and strives to provide a balanced nutritious menu which includes catering for special diets.

To ensure variety of choice and to limit repetition a 4 week seasonal menu is provided, offering a choice of three main course dishes together with a daily vegetarian option. A pre-lunch glass of sherry or wine is very popular!

Residents are given the choice to enjoy meals in the relaxed atmosphere of the dining room served by our staff, or in the privacy of their own room. Set meal times provide an opportunity for residents to meet up and socialise; nevertheless, meals can be taken at any time of the day that a resident wishes. Beverages and snacks are also available 24 hours a day.

Regular residents' meetings are held where they are encouraged to express their views on the quality of the food in the home and also to suggest menu options. The Chef will also meet each resident individually to discuss dietary requirements and preferences.

Summer barbeques and our popular themed events not only help make mealtimes a real highlight and something to look forward to, but also provide a good talking point in the run up to, during and, after the event.

Family and friends are very welcome to enjoy the hospitality of the home by joining their relatives for a complementary meal.

The prospect of moving into a care home may lead you to believe that you have to give up an independent and socially active life, but nothing could be further from the truth. At Maricare we offer many and varied activities to enrich and fulfil each day.

Each home employs an Activity Organiser who creates a tailor-made programme of activities and events that varies from month to month. When arranging the activities, the needs of individual residents in the homes are taken into consideration.

Exercise classes, quizzes, yoga, memory box, live entertainments, bridge, coffee mornings, skittles, quoits, art and crafts, crosswords...the list is boundless and endless. We also welcome the visiting library, the Clergy and guest speakers.
Four times a year we have a themed event in each Home such as a cultural weekend when the food, drink, dress and entertainment from other countries can be enjoyed.

We have mini-coaches with drivers who with the Activity Organisers will take you to many places of interest e.g. National Trust Houses, trips to the coast, or to sporting events. During the trips out our residents' safety is of paramount importance and each Activity Organiser is a fully trained Registered First Aider.
